As I celebrate my 51st birthday, I reflect on the incredible journey of Joy's Kitchen, since 2012. Named in honor of my mother, who passed away just before its inception, Joy's Kitchen embodies an example of the transformation of grief into hope. Through our shared sorrow, we have truly found joy over the years through serving and loving others.
Our dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.
We could not do this without your volunteer and financial support.
Despite our successes, we face significant funding challenges.

In the United States, 1 in 7 children face the uncertainty of hunger, not knowing where their next meal will come from. At Joy’s Kitchen, we are dedicated to combating this critical issue, particularly as the number of families in need continues to escalate. With 41% of food in our nation being wasted, the contrast to this growing hunger is stark. We aim to raise 1 million meals by April 8th, aligning our mission with the awe-inspiring moment of the solar eclipse. Your support enables us to rescue and redistribute surplus food, making a tangible difference in the lives of many. Let’s harness the momentum of the solar eclipse to eclipse hunger together. Let's feed families this holiday!
The price of groceries continues to rise and it has become more challenging for individuals and families to feed themselves this winter. I discovered Joy's Kitchen three months ago and met Kathy, Joy's inspiring dedicated founder who has been giving her everything to combatting food waste and feeding those who most dearly need it. After a decade, Joy's now feeds more than 6,000 families a month and has created a system so efficient that just $10 can feed a family of four for a full week! And it's wholesome, healthy food... not junk! Kathy is unstoppable and as I have been working with her I am driven to help them to become more financilally self sustaining so she can fulfill her mission to expand their reach to more zip codes and eventually more states. More than 40% of all food in America is thrown out each day!! That is not okay. Joy's Kitchen has a system to effectively reduce this and feed those in need.
Please donate and spread the word. By raising $10,000 before the end of the year, together we will feed an additional 90 families for 3 full months, while also off-setting nearly 30,000 kg of CO2 equivalent emissions (that's equal to driving 12,058.4 miles in an average car).
