We Don't Waste is a non profit dedicated to reducing food waste and combatting food insecurity in the greater Denver area. We partner with organizations of various sizes along with individual families to redistribute rescued food and keep food from the landfill.

We believe all humans deserve equitable access to healthy foods, and a safe, healthy environment free from pollution. We believe in the rights of our living plant and animal neighbors to have access to clean air, water, and soil. These beliefs drive our mission to rescue as much food from the landfill as possible in order to prevent it from turning into methane gas in the landfills and polluting our air, and distributing healthy food equitably to communities experiencing food insecurity in the Denver area. We partner with communities in food apartheids, where access to healthy foods have been intentionally restricted due to socio economic factors such as class, race, gender, legal status, and disability. We follow the food use triangle, where when possible, we feed people first, then animals, then the compost to feed plants.

Our org has going on 30 years of experience building a network of donors and partners in the Denver area tackling food waste and food insecurity. We are in a period of growth based in need, and would like to support Joy's kitchen in a mutually beneficial way.

We understand the network of organizations combatting food insecurity and food waste in Denver are part of an interconnected ecosystem that is an integral part of the wellbeing of Denver's residents. Each family, volunteer, mutual aid organization, non profit, and food donor plays a specific role in making sure each other's needs are met. Our food access team is working on strengthening these relationships across the board, so that we can help each other meet each other's needs. Whether that be spreading awareness about a food borne illness, promoting each other's work, connecting each other to potential funding opportunities, or sharing resources, our relationships are what keep us strong and resilient.

This will have to be a conversation in person; I am eager to speak with you about how we might support one another in a mutually beneficial way. My primary thought is that we can support Joy's kitchen with supplemental food for your distributions.
